A German company with an impact on the quality of IT solutions in several areas of life all around the world is looking for a test engineer responsible for developing and executing test scenarios and test cases for several telecommunication products (especially DSL routers) and for elaborating the testing documentation. Part of the position duties is a close collaboration with other colleagues and teams across the company. We are looking for a costumer-focused team player with good technical abilities.

The core responsabilities are:

Creating, maintaining and executing test scenarios and cases (e.g. TestLink)
Monitoring the results and providing the corresponding documentation
Using the bug tracking tools for documentation and monitoring (e.g. JIRA)
Implementation of the software
Tracking down the issues and their prioritization according to their importance for the costumer
Advancing the urgent issues to the System Test Manager
Participation at regular monitoring meetings
Executing the tests for release of new firmware or support of the software developers
Good technical understanding of the company products

We demand:

Experience in programming in Python ( or “C”).
Experience in using Version Control Software (git or svn)
Good knowledge of Embedded Software based on LINUX
Good knowledge of Linux based shell commands and scripting
Good knowledge and ready for use of Telephony PSTN and PBX (POTS, ISDN, VoIP via SIP)
Good knowledge of networking in general – TCP/IP, including practical experience with wireless, ADSL/VDSL, LAN and WAN products
Good knowledge of Switching (VLAN, 802.1p, 802.1q, 802.1w, QoS)
Good knowledge of Security (Firewalls, VPN)
Good knowledge of WLAN (including its security aspects) and IPTV
Good understanding of multiple desktop operation systems including MS-Windows, Mac, Linux
Knowledge of office applications
Good computer literacy
Fluency in English and German (reading / writing / spoken)
Good communication skills, both oral and written
A team-player attitude, self-motivation and drive
Good problem-solving abilities and a desire to see through to resolution
